COVID 19 Response Policy
The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula (BGCP) is taking proactive steps to protect the workplace in the event of a confirmed case of COVID 19. It is the goal of BGCP during any such time period to strive to operate effectively and ensure that all employees are safe within the workplace.
BGCP is committed to providing authoritative information about the nature and spread of COVID 19, including symptoms and signs to watch for, as well as required steps to be taken in the event of a confirmed case of COVID 19.
Reporting a confirmed case of COVID 19
- Any employee, volunteer or student who either personally tests positive for COVID 19, or learns of another employee, volunteer or student testing positive, must contact LJay in Human Resources immediately at 408.960.3569 or [email protected]. HR will investigate the case and communicate instructions to other staff, volunteers, students and/or families as needed.
- The same is true if a housemate or someone with whom the employee has had close contact tests positive.
- Although not legally required, BGCP strongly encourages staff working offsite to notify HR if they’ve tested or has had close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID 19.
- The Site Manager must complete a COVID 19 incident report located in ADP:
- Resurces -> Company Information -> Forms Library -> Survey Request -> COVID 19 Incident Reprt
- HR and the Site Manager will complete contact tracing (with guidance of medical professionals to determine who else might be at risk).
- HR will identify all employees, volunteers, students and families who might have been in contact with the infected person and notify them immediately. HR will notify all BGCP staff of any known cases and report the location and actions being taken.
Testing
- All employees who may have been exposed to COVID 19 must:
- leave the site as soon as practical.
- be tested for COVID 19 as soon as possible. BGCP will cover all cost for testing, provide testing location, and support with test scheduling.
- HR will provide possible exposed employees with CDC guidance and recommend they self- quarantine until test results come back.
- Employees will be allowed to return to work on site once they:
- provide HR with a negative test result or have been cleared to return to work from a medical provider.
- are symptom free.
- Employees who are out awaiting testing results:
- are expected to work remotely if possible.
- will be fully compensated at their normal rate and for their normal hours.
- Employees who test positive for COVID 19 will be paid as outlined in the COVID 19 Cares Act, which includes two weeks of additional paid time off, regardless of where they became infected.
Site Closure and Re-Opening Process
- If the staff person who tested positive has been at a BGCP site within the prior two weeks, that site or sites will be closed immediately.
- The site will re-open after:
- it is deep cleaned, hopefully that night.
- the Operations team and site leadership complete a detailed walk through to ensure all safety protocols are in place.
